VIRTUAL EVENT
Fireside Chat with Biotech Pioneer: Vicki Sato
When Vicki Sato entered the biotech world, the industry was still nascent and Asian Americans, let alone Asian American women, were rarely leaders.
Over the next three decades, she helped change both. As Biogen’s head of research in the 80s, Vicki played a key role in translating interferon into a groundbreaking treatment for multiple sclerosis, among other accomplishments. Then as President of Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Vicki steered the company through its growth into a billion-dollar biotech.
Later, she brought her insights to boardrooms at Bristol Myers Squibb, Denali, the Broad Institute, President Biden’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology and beyond —shaping scientific strategy, leadership development, and governance at the highest levels.
Join us and share your questions for Vicki as she reflects on what it took to build the industry from the ground up and what it meant to do so as an Asian American woman.
